There’s definitely much negativity on the issue of teenage pregnancy, some positive light can also be found. Not finishing education, losing social life, and drug and alcohol use. Having a baby often gets in the way of a teenage mother finishing her education, which is a major, conflict for her future as well as her child’s future. Those teenage years is the new and exciting social experiences with other teenagers that you get to create, but with a baby means that you can’t participate in most of the things that normal, childless, teens would usually do. Being a mother is extremely stressful, especially if you are very young. The stress adds to the fact that most teenagers are impulsive and often immature, leading to a very high chance of drug or alcohol abuse to take place. A few teenagers who become mothers feel the opposite on the whole situation. Young ladies express positive attitudes to being mothers. For some, motherhood had changed their perspectives on education and is now motivated to finish. Teen pregnancy today is ruining the lives of young girls and their children, creating poverty in America. People speak of "babies having babies." Other Americans are more straight forward, "I don't mind paying to help people in need," one angry radio talk show host told Michael Katz, a historian of poverty, "but I don't want my tax dollars to pay for the sexual pleasure of adolescents who won't use birth control."
